I sincerely apologize for my tardiness, and will not let it happen again.
so, here goes:

Autumn is here...or rather, ALMOST here! - colorful ``filet`` snood

I feel both sad and happy when fall comes around. Weird, isn’t it? There are moments when my heart wavers between the sheer wonder brought forth by the turning of leaves and the sadness I feel when I think about the snow and bitter cold that are to come. It’s not that I hate winter…it’s just more complicated. I’ll let you picture my winter seasons with a disabled child and snow up to my neck.

But let us be more lighthearted and feast our eyes with Quebec City’s beauty, because Quebec is paradise for fall-landscape lovers. La Presse stated yesterday that the region of Gaspésie was in the top-10 fall destinations. WOW! If you want to know a bit more, click here:

I had a…slow weekend… The weather was dreary and gray, my husband spent all his time at the office, and I did a little bit of housecleaning and a lot of crochet. I made slippers. It will be my little sister’s birthday soon, and she asked me to make her three pairs.
On Saturday, we had a visit from Elizabeth. She was wearing the ``colored snood`` I had crocheted for her last week. This picture was taken on an Ipad, so when I say dark lighting, I mean dark lighting! Liz is our ``talented`` translator. She should have a post to share about herself soon. (See sept. 23rd's post!:))

Here is the snood up close. Want to make one? It is a ``filet décalé`` with inserted chain stitches. These up in air chain stitches allow you to add the lightest touch of color to your cowl without crowding the gray. (I apologize I searched high and low for the correct crocheting terms and I could not find them…Could any of you help?)
Elizabeth loves her cowl (Indeed, she does:)), and I am very happy with the result. The cowl is made out of Red Heart Soft and Red Heart Shimmer, and the crocheting needles are 7mm long (total cost: approx.. 10$, even 8$ I’d say).
1- 30 rows, using a stitch (not 1 trebble over another, but one treble over a hook)
2- Six up in air chains are inserted in the hooks. You must close them after insertion.
Good luck and thank you for being here!

LucieAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15545010567161735936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8443452996860217683.post-61918644651911142722014-09-24T07:22:58.051-04:002014-09-24T07:22:58.051-04:00Beautiful pictures! I thought I'd tell you a little bit...Hey guys!

I thought I'd tell you a little bit about me, Elizabeth. I am 22 years old, and I will begin my fourth year at Champlain St-Lawrence Regional College in the winter of 2015. I am in the C.AL.L. program (College Arts, Languages & Litterature). I will be perfecting my Spanish and pursuing the challenging task of learning German when I return.

I am also a quite down to earth person, yet hopelessly romantic; I love music and movies, and on occasion I love to sip a rich spicy pumpkin (decaf!) latte.

I love to read, and spend hours filling blank pages with words. My own, but also my mother-in-law, Lucie's.
I love attempting to capture the voice she lends to this blog every week. Hopefully she enjoys it, too, and will continue to learn English.

So, that was me in a nutshell, folks! You now know a litle more about your translator!

Have a terrific evening, and bundle up, because here in Quebec, it is FREE-ZING!

Cheers,

Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15545010567161735936noreply@blogger.com
