This week, I thought I'd share a little ``technique`` of mine with you, hoping it might be of help to those of you starting out in The World of Crochet. This post won't have a 'sexy' edge to it, but more of an 'educationnal' twist.

Those of you who have children or are still young probably recall the following math formula:
the circumference of a circle: 2πr where r is the radius.
au crochet, avec des mailles serrées, il y a un miracle, le P devient 3 et r, le nombre de rang!
rang 1 : 2*3*1 = 6 mailles
rang 2 : 2*3*2 = 12 mailles
rang 3 : 2*3*3 = 18 mailles
In crochet with tight stitches there is a miracle out there for you: The π becomes 3 and the R,becomes the number of rows.
row 1 : 2*3*1 = 6 stitches
row 2 : 2*3*2 = 12 stitches
row 3 : 2*3*3 = 18 stitches
row 2 : 2*3*2 = 12 stitches
row 3 : 2*3*3 = 18 stitches
Ce n'est pas de la magie : c'est mathématique!

Et que fait-on lorsque nous crochetons des brides? Le rayon s'agrandit de 1,5 à 2 fois plus vite. Il faut alors plus de mailles au départ et conserver le rythme - what must we do when we crochet treble crochets? the radius enlarges by 1.5 to 2 times faster. We need to start with more stitches and keep up with the rhythm.
rang 1 : 2*3*1*1,5 = 9 mailles
rang 2 : 2*3*2*1,5 = 18 mailles
rang 3 : 2*3*3*1,5 = 27 mailles
